Head of English

Fowey River Academy and the Leading Edge Academies Partnership are seeking to appoint an inspiring and enthusiastic Lead Practitioner/Head of Faculty to work closely with the English team in supporting the faculty in the next stage of their development.
This is a really exciting opportunity to lead and develop a strong department with a good track record and we are looking to appoint a dynamic, enthusiastic and inspirational individual who will be dedicated to the promotion of English Language and Literature.

The extent of this leadership role within the English Faculty will be negotiated with the successful candidate and the salary will be commensurate with the agreed role and the successful candidate’s experience. They will be an outstanding classroom practitioner, who is able to drive continuous improvement in teaching and learning, raising standards and ensuring pupil achievement and engagement are maximised. Coaching colleagues in developing their practice will be an important aspect of the role; we seek a leader who has the ability to foster a lively and enthusiastic atmosphere within the department for both students and staff.

The faculty has a good track record in securing success for our students and is made up of a team of highly skilled and dedicated professionals. The successful candidate should be dynamic, inspirational and enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate from the outset their love of the subject, but, moreover their commitment to improving the lives of our young people.

The successful candidate should be dynamic, inspirational and enthusiastic and be able to demonstrate from the outset their love of the two subjects, but moreover, their commitment to improving the lives of our students. These two subjects offer an excellent opportunity to do just this for the colleaugue who understands the pivotal role they offer to the enrichment and success of young people.
