Roald Dahl Story Day 2020

Each year, Roald Dahl Story Day is celebrated on the 13th of September. The global celebration of his stories, characters and special moments are shared with fans across the world.

Roald Dahl’s birth month was September, and on the 13th, a wonderful mixture of events will be taking place. If Roald Dahl were alive today, he’d be 103 this year. That’s even older than Grandpa Joe in Charlie and The Chocolate Factory, who was ninety-six and a half!

Throughout September, there are many different activities taking place all over the world. One of the most interactive events is the Dahlicious Dress-up Day. Children go to school dressed up in their favourite Roald Dahl character. It’s a fun day and all in aid of Roald Dahl’s Marvellous Children’s Charity.

The very first Roald Dahl Story Day took place on what would have been Roald’s ninetieth birthday in 2006. Celebrations took place all over the world, with the day begin recognised with fun-filled events in the UK, USA and Holland. All these years later, and many more people are acknowledging this special day.

So, on the 13th September if you’re going to be having an adventure on a giant peach like James, meeting a BFG like Sophie, or simply wanting a chocolate adventure like Charlie, make sure to have lots of fun!
