Congratulations for making it to the end of the school year! For those of you that don’t break up until Wednesday, chin up and keep battling on!

Whether you swept across the finish line or hobbled over it, you should be proud of the work you accomplished with your students.

Before you head off for the summer break, you may find it helpful to take a few moments to…

  1. Reflect on what went really well this year. Write down five things that really were fantastic this academic year. Perhaps you achieved a personal goal, or maybe a specific lesson or a student breakthrough? Whether big or small, it’s worth including your successes on the list.
  2. Create a reading list for the summer break. The list might include books that your students are reading, professional books as well as some books just for you –something you really take pleasure in. The list might also include online articles and blogs that you want to read.
  3. Consider what you want to focus on improving next year. The end of the academic year is a great time to consider new strategies that could be implemented in the coming year. Perhaps there was a lesson that you really wanted to teach, but didn’t get a chance to?

The team at Elementa wish you all a fantastic summer and we look forward to seeing you in September.
